Side View

Here’s a view from the side. One thing I’ve found out is that some of the nails don’t take rolling over concrete too well.

I’m wondering if you can tell me how you attached the shaft to the angle iron. Did you use any type of bearings?

I didn’t use a bearing, it seemed to spin freely enough without it (and I didn’t have any on hand in the garage). The axle is just held on with simple washers and cotter pins. I drilled holes though the end of each axle. I know, pretty low tech, but seems to be fine.

Also as for the nails; were they 5 gauge pole barn nails or something like gutter spikes? And how long.

I want to say they were 22d nails. I think I would actually do it a little different and use slightly longer nails but leave less on the outside (maybe 2″ max) or even small 3/8″ rebar and embed them deeper next time in the concrete. The reason is, whenever I roll over the sidewalk I end up bending some of the nails over which I have to straighten. I suppose more nails would also help spread out the weight, but that may be counter productive in the long run for penetrating into the soil.
